Stevie Bacon
Hopefully someone from the club sees this or it can be passed on, sad news on someone most of us remember fondly. Would be nice if the club can do something to help out.

Steve Bacon on instagram:

10 days ago I was rushed to the Royal London Hospital for a life saving operation which entailed amputating my remaining leg. You can only imagine the pain and trauma this has caused me, and I’m slowly coming to terms with it.

This, obviously, has cast a huge question mark over my immediate and long term future. I cannot give you any idea as to what will happen to me, but my physiotherapists and occupational therapists aim to come up with a plan. I will let you know of any progress as and when it happens.

Re: Stevie Bacon
There's a funny story in his book about Macari who tried to get Steve to spy on the players for him. When Steve visited Old Trafford for a match Macari who was working for Man U tv, saw him arrive and shouted out " You see that fat git coming up the stairs, he was the bastard that got me the sack at West Ham" and started laughing.
The truth was Steve was Macari's only friend at the club in the end!

I think it was pardew who put a stop to steve travelling to away games on the team bus. After that he seemed to lose his status at West Ham, prior to that he was almost treated as part of the club

I rememeber a fundraiser for SB back in the day at Daggers. Poor sod has had a rough time. As someone stated, I think he had lost a few toes back then. Club needs to do something.

If the club did do that and he went on Thursday, that will be the sternest test his new pacemaker will ever go through.

Re: Stevie Bacon
I see on twitter he has recently had a pacemaker fitted.

Wouldn't it be a great morale booster for him if the club could arrange for him to be at the game looked after and given some proper hospitality on Thursday.

If the WHOfund was to make a donation to help Steve, I'd be happy to top it up again.

Re: Stevie Bacon
email sent to the club tonight

Hi there – I heard today that Steve Bacon – so long an iconic figure at Upton Park and around the club – was rushed into hospital 10 days ago – and had to have emergency surgery which is said to have involved having his remaining leg amputated.

A group of us were discussing the news on a forum – and one of the guys put forward a suggestion that perhaps the club could put on an exhibition of his work in or around the stadium – with any donations on the door to go to helping Steve.

There will be a large group of fans who will have – like me – grown up seeing his work in the programme – in Hammers News – or the local papers over the decades - and it would be a fitting way to help him out in his hour of need.

Alternatively if the club already has plans – or means of passing on support – financial or otherwise – to Steve can these be divulged?

Look forward to hearing from you.

Kind Regards

Ian

What awful news, as ted says he always had the "One Stevie Bacon" chant as he took his spot by the goal at our end on awaydays

Good luck big fellow

As MPI said he was at a couple of the Frankie Mac tournaments.

Very engaging fella.

Great suggestion from Oxsaw

I'd be all over that.

Will drop a line into the club to see if they will do anything
